Swingin' Spring

Hard to keep up with all of the festivities! Before Mark left for his Grandpa's funeral last week, we got to see the kids perform a collection of oldies but goodies as they helped their older classmates graduate from preschool. Autumn and Evan had been practicing at home the songs they were learning at school and just seemed to be very comfortable singing in front of the audience. Needless to say we were beaming with pride! Above they are rockin out to "Rockin' Robin," and below they pose with their wonderful teacher, Miss Karen.

Mark flew back from Michigan after spending quality time with friends and family while saying farewell to his Grandpa and met us at Kanawha State Forest, where we went camping with our church. We were blessed with beautiful weather, a forest alive with fascinating cicadas, and a fishing experience that yielded over 10 bluegills! Here are some pics, though Mark is working on a video of the cicada circus to soon premiere on our blog. Come back soon to check for it!

Evan explores the creek during a beautiful group hike.

We fell in love with this adorable puppy named Coconut at the playground!

Autumn examines one of the many cicadas who fell victim to curious kids after waiting 17 years to emerge from the ground, mate, and die. I am still having guilt issues about this...

Evan was thrilled to be fishing with Dad!

And he caught and reeled this whopper in by himself!
