The kids were thrilled to pick out the decorations for their third birthday party. Conveniently, we were able to find both Dora and Diego, their favorite spanish-speaking learning adventure pals. I, of course, got in my cleaning-panic-trying-to-present-a-perfect-house mode, which this time was utterly useless as within ten minutes of the arrival of our guests, the house was trashed. Legos mixed with the memory cards mixed with the dinosaurs, all in different parts of the house. Then we played Pin the Tail on Boods (Dora's sidekick), a big hit thanks to the frugal yet creative suggestion of my friend Kelly. After a craft and some more house demolition, parents and kids dined on the usual
birthday fare - pizza, cake (homeade funfetti, beautifully decorated by the birthday boy and girl), and of course, ice cream. After all of the excitement, as our children slept angelically, Mark and I flopped down on the couch, exhausted, and agreed not to do that again until next January.
